Why Choose (Dry) Electrical Underfloor Heating?
“Dry underfloor heating is cheaper to install than wet systems”. Quote from Which Magazine.
A dry electric underfloor heating system is an effective and efficient heating medium for any room. It’s energy efficient, space saving, allergy subduing and carbon footprint friendly. Once you feel difference in the type of heat generated you will want it everywhere.
What system?
There are several kinds of underfloor heating systems.
Cable System: This is laid in the concrete screed of a new build.
Mat System: This is laid under floor tiles and is an ideal retro fit product for an existing room.
Foil system: This is laid in small areas to warm the floor rather than to heat a room.
All our heating systems have a user friendly intelligent programmable digital controller that allows individual room temperature control.
A heat thermostat probe is fitted in the floor which is a more efficient method to monitor the true room temperature.
Installation
Cable System
This system has a life time guarantee.
It is suitable for almost every situation and floor construction it is an invisible heat source leaving your room free of the clutter of pipes and radiators allowing you to utilise all your wall space.
The 7mm cable which comprises of conductor and resistance wires are insulated with XLPE, a ground wire is encased in PVC and is 100% waterproof.
The first layer is 100mm foil backed insulation (Celotex or the equivalent). This ensures that all the heat that is generated rises and none is lost in the subfloor. It also complies with current Building Regulations. The cable is then installed ready for the final layer which is the screed. This can be standard screed or liquid screed. The finished flooring surface is laid on top of the screed once it is dry.
Floor Finish
A tile finish is recommended because it is a good conductor of heat.
An engineered hard wood floor can be laid and this floor finish will work well. It is important that the manufactures of the wooden floor should advise as to what heat temperature their floor will withstand without causing damage. The intelligent digital thermostat controller can then be set to the advised specifications.
Carpet can also be laid this will affect the heating up period. Heat conducting underlay is recommended for this floor finish.
Mat System
This system has a 10 year guarantee.
This is a good retro fit option for existing floors. It is an invisible heat source leaving your room free of the clutter of pipes and radiators allowing you to utilise all your wall space.
The mat is made of an open nylon mesh with integral conductor and resistance cable. The insulation covering is made of Teflon and has an external covering of braded wire covered by PVC making it 100% waterproof.
It should be laid on a concrete floor the total thickness of the mat is 3.5mm. The desired floor finish is then laid on top of the heating mat.

Foil System
This has a 10 year guarantee.
This system is designed for heating a floor surface rather than being a primary heating source. It is ideally used beneath a real wood floating floor or a laminated floating floor. Please contact the manufactures of the flooring to obtain the correct specification and heating tolerances.
The foil is laid directly underneath the floating parquet or laminated floor. This is a very thin system of only 0.3mm depth and a digital clock thermostat controls it with a floor sensor. An optional extra is 6mm polystyrene insulation plates which are placed beneath the heating foil to increase the thermal value of the floor. The floor temperature will be limited to a recommended maximum temperature of 28°C.
